'Dreaming of the contours of the mountain seeking for them every day'
A project about the air pollution of Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. As a mixed media artist, adding tactile dimension to the artwork also invites viewers to engage in a sensory experience. The contours of dreams become intertwined with the contours of the mountains and her surroundings, creating a visual dialogue that resonates with the viewer's own aspirations and quests. In recent years, Thailand has found itself grappling with a silent yet potent adversary—PM2.5 air pollution, exacerbated by widespread fires. PM2.5 refers to particulate matter with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or smaller, posing severe health risks as it can penetrate deep into the lungs. The alarming surge in PM2.5 levels in Thailand, primarily attributed to fires, has raised concerns about public health, environmental sustainability, and the urgent need for comprehensive solutions. The recurring motif of seeking mountains daily in my work becomes a metaphorical journey, not just through physical landscapes but through the challenges posed by environmental degradation. As I meticulously craft my pieces, the mountains, symbolic of dreams and aspirations, become elusive in the face of the atmospheric veil cast by pollution. The subtle interplay of colors and textures reflects the dual nature of her quest – a pursuit of beauty tinged with the somber acknowledgment of environmental fragility.
